Welcome to Grain ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use the Grain iOS application (the "App").

2. Data Collection and Storage

Grain is designed with a strict "offline-first" and "privacy-first" philosophy.

• Local Storage: All data you enter into the App—including your camera metadata, lens details, roll logs, notes, and attached film scans—is stored locally on your device using Apple's native frameworks.
• No External Servers: We do not own, operate, or transmit your data to any external servers, databases, or third-party analytics services. Your data remains entirely in your control.

3. iOS Permissions

To provide its core features, Grain requests the following device permissions:

• Location Services (GPS): When you log a shot, the App requests your location to reverse-geocode your coordinates into a city and country name for your journal, and to plot your shots on the in-app map. This location data is stored only on your device. We do not track your location in the background or share it with third parties.
• Photo Library: The App requests access to your Photo Library solely so you can select and attach digital film scans to your logged shots. We do not scan, upload, or analyze your photo library.

4. iCloud Backup

While we do not transmit your data to our own servers, if you have iCloud Backup enabled on your Apple device, your app data (including photos and locations) may be backed up to your personal iCloud account in accordance with Apple's privacy policies. You can manage this in your iOS device settings.

5. Third-Party Services

Grain does not use third-party analytics and does not serve ads. Your usage habits remain entirely private.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Since we do not collect your email address, we cannot notify you directly. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes.
